This resource is a LKS2 discussion-based text writing unit discussing who is the greatest scientist of all time The unit has been split into four separate lessons which will take students approximately 40-50 minutes each. The Google Slides activity is ideal for distance learning and perfect for students in Year 3 or Year 4 learning about science or famous scientists.
The first lesson involves students retrieving facts from informational texts about Albert Einstein, Isaac Newton and Marie Curie, and typing these on to an included fact sheet. In the second lesson students need to use these facts to write three to four paragraphs about the individual scientists. In the third lesson students need to use prompt sheets to write up an introduction and a conclusion. In the final lesson students need to check their draft paragraphs for mistakes before typing up their work using the template provided.

Firstly, there is a Reading Comprehension Activity with comprehension and grammar questions followed by an extension task. The resource is a Google Forms activity and is ideal for distance learning.
Secondly, there is a Biography Writing Unit. The unit has been split into four separate lessons which will take students approximately 40-50 minutes each. The Google Slides activity is ideal for distance learning. The first lesson is interactive and involves students reading facts, and then sorting and ordering these facts into paragraphs. In the second lesson the children need to use these facts to type four paragraphs. Then, in the third lesson they need to choose the most important facts and include these in an introduction; after this they need to answer several questions before typing up their conclusion. In the final lesson your class will need to check their draft paragraphs before typing up their work on to the template provided.
These activities are both online resources that use Google Forms and Google Slides, they are linked to your Google Drive. They can be completed by students online using tablets, phones or computers. The resources also come in a PDF format, which can be printed.

A Charles Darwin Escape Room activity. Ideal for Year 5 or Year 6, the activity is perfect for group work, a science project, team-building activities or for a fun, engaging and interactive lesson. The activity can be used in English class as it incorporates some ELA skills or in Social Studies.
The activity has been split into four different tasks; your students will need to complete each of the tasks to reveal a word. Together the four words make a phrase for them to escape the room.

In Task 1 students will read an informational text about Charles Darwin and then find their way through a maze by answering true or false comprehension questions. If they answer the questions correctly they will reveal their first word.
In Task 2 students will use the same informational text to complete a crossword puzzle. Within the puzzle there are several hidden letters which will need to be unscrambled on the completion of the puzzle to reveal the second word.
In Task 3 students will have to cut out 27 timeline task cards that cover key events of the 1800s before putting them in order from the earliest date to the most recent. When they have finished their task they can glue them onto the answer key which will reveal their third word.
In Task 4 students will have to find the missing words in a wordsearch puzzle before finding a hidden word from the letters that are left over in the puzzle. This hidden word is their fourth and final word.
Students can then complete their student answer key with the four words they revealed before checking with the teacher to see if they have escaped successfully.
